Our Vision
Transformed by all of Jesus for all peoples.

Our Mission

Ministry & Life in the Spirit
We await, anticipate and follow the Spirit of God. Leadership through the power of the Holy Spirit and sensitivity to his direction is essential to fulfilling the call of Christ.
— Acts 1:8, Ephesians 5:18

Kingdom Justice & Mercy
We initiate reconciliation, restoration and service to the broken and disenfranchised as a mandate of Christ. He did not come only to save, but also to restore humanity.
— Micah 6:8, Isaiah 61:1-2a

Leadership Development & Soul Care
We bring ourselves holistically into leadership. Cultivating healthy relationships, self-awareness and care for our souls is the first priority of our leadership.
— Proverbs 4:23, Ephesians 4:11-13

Missional Living & Global Advance
We proclaim the kingdom of heaven to all peoples within our local and global contexts until all have heard.
— Matthew 24:14; Matthew 28:18-20
We are Spirit-filled, renewal seeking, Bible teaching, healing believing, gospel proclaiming, risk takers who learned from our founder that people who advance the Kingdom are presence dwellers who say ‘yes’ to Jesus with uncompromised obedience – even if we’re called to walk in a way we’ve never walked before.

Our Teams
Through collaborative efforts, shaped by our core values, we are able to carry out the four primary functions of our mission.
History of Our Movement

Albert Benjamin Simpson resigned from his pastorate at a prestigious Presbyterian Church in lower Manhattan because the church leadership did not want to receive the immigrants he was reaching down at the docks. He set out in faith to establish a church in NYC where all were welcome.

Prostitutes, longshoremen, and the homeless received the reconciliation message: God’s grace is for all people. He then went on to establish the New York Gospel Tabernacle to help bring likeminded people together into an organization that could facilitate outreach ministries.

Simpson empowered men and women to reach the poor and disenfranchised. He advocated for education to immigrants and women, and he started a missionary training institute, now Nyack College, where all were welcome to be trained as missionaries for international assignments.

Simpson not only preached the Gospel; he shared the healing power of Jesus for physical healing, emotional healing, and mental healing. Simpson delivered a message of a deeper life that all people can have with God for holistic freedom and transformation.

For decades this missionary movement continued as an alliance of congregations, then in 1974, The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) officially became a denomination. Today, the Alliance includes nearly 2,000 churches in the U.S. and ministers in over 62 countries to over 70 people groups.
The Alliance
The Metro District is a regional district of The Alliance. Together we desire to know Jesus Christ as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King and to complete His Great Commission worldwide.
